This Week in Pre-K ….

October 20th, 2019

What a beautiful weekend we had!  The weather was spectacular and the leaves are so beautiful right now! We have a busy couple of weeks coming up.

Student-led conferences

On Friday, November 1st, we will have our first student-led conferences.  This will be a great opportunity for your child to show you around our classroom and tell you all about school!  I have emailed you a link to sign up for a time slot.  If you contacted me for an evening conference time you will not need to sign up through the email link.

Trunk-or-Treat

This coming Saturday is Trunk or Treat from 2-3pm. This is NOT a public event. It is for Discovery Families only.  Please sign-up by this Wednesday if you plan to decorate a trunk or can donate candy or other non-edible treasures.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090a48aca92da2f94-trunk3    No need to sign-up if you are just coming to visit trunks in costume. We are up to 19 decorated trunks at this time, which is pretty awesome. If you’re one of the host vehicles, you may begin setting up at 1pm on Saturday. We’ll provide you with donated candy or trinkets to pass out. All trunks should be set-up and ready to receive trunk or treaters by 1:55pm.  Please note that ONLY decorated trunks participating in passing out items will be permitted in the front parking lot of the school. All others will need to park in the back lot or across the street. This is simply for the safety of the children walking around in costume. If you’re coming in costume to visit trunks, we ask that you stay on the playground until an announcement is made that it is time to begin circulating.

Classroom Halloween Party

On Thursday, October 31st we will have our class Halloween celebration.  Our celebration will run differently than the main building.  Your child will arrive at school in their costume.  We will parade through the buildings around 9 or 9:30 and then continue our celebration in our classroom.  A sign up for supplies/treats will be sent to you this week.  We will do our typical morning routine but in costume with fun games and treats.  If your child will want to change for recess you may send a change of clothes or if your child is a full day student and would like to change you may send clothes.

Our class will be publishing a book!

We will be very busy this week learning how to be authors and illustrators!  The class will be creating a class book that we will be sending in to be professionally published.  Your child will be bringing home an order form that will allow you to order your own copy of the book once it’s published.  If you choose to not purchase a copy of the book I will still need the form returned to school so that I can include your child’s page in the book.

Veterans Day Assembly

Sheets came home in folders this week in regards to our Veteran’s Assembly on November 8th. Everyone is invited to attend the Assembly from 8:40-9:00am. It is a truly special time of giving thanks to all of those men and women who have served our country. Our students all participate in the event in some way (making posters, making veteran gifts, speaking from the podium, or singing a song.) We hope you can plan to join us! If you have a family member, friend, or neighbor who is a Veteran, we hope you’ll invite them to come and be recognized. Please return the sheet with the Veteran guest info to the office by November 4th.
